1988 ACCESSORY PRODUCT CHANGES/REVISIONS
This Bulletin describes updates which have been made to 1988 accessories and includes application charts.
Air-Condition, Radio/Cassette, Cruise Control & Security Information
AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEMS
A.
Changes/revisions that will affect A/C kit installation into the Station Wagon, Sedan and 3-Door include the following:
1.
All vehicles will have fuel injection and power steering. No FICD is necessary and the belts will be packaged with the new A/C kits.
2.
All 1987 kits carry over to 1988.
B.
87.5 XT A/C will carry over to 88MY.
C.
Changes that will affect Justy A/C include the following:
1.
The Justy kit has a redesigned Alternator Bracket and V Belt for the larger capacity alternator. This necessitates a new kit for 88MY.
2.
87MY kits can be updated to 88MY application with SOA 332Y240.
C.
Specific changes to Matsushita A/C kit:
1.
Station Wagon, Sedan and 3-Door A/C kit has been improved by:
a)
Increasing the capacity of the compressor.
b)
Redesigned the evaporator coil for better heat transfer.
c)
Greater surface area on the condenser for increased cooling performance.
d)
Compressor bracket has been changed for increased belt wrap and easier belt tensioning.
2.
87MY Matsushita kits will carry over to 88 application.
RADIO/CASSETTE
A.
Changes/revisions that will affect Radio/Cassette installation into Station Wagon, Sedan, 3-Door Coupe and XT include:
1.
The control buttons have changed to black with round edges.
2.
Dash lighting remains green on Station Wagon, Sedan and 3-Door Coupe; the XT is orange.
3.
All Panasonic cassettes have green illumination.
4.
All Clarion cassettes have orange illumination.
5.
The EQ Deck will continue to have switchable lighting.
B.
Changes/revisions on the Justy.
1.
GL models will have an ETR two speaker radio as standard equipment. The console cassette deck is available for these caps.
2.
DL models will not have a factory installed radio. For these vehicles, we will have a "combo radio kit". This is a radio/cassette featuring:
Electronic Tuning 12 FM and 6 AM Station Memory Seek Tuning Auto Stop Digital Quartz Clock Two Front Speakers, Brackets and
Bezel
CRUISE CONTROL
A.
For 1988 the cruise control changes/additions:
1.
A new horn pad switch for GL Wagon, Sedan and 3-Door models. The switch will be available from the PDC to update the 87MY
application cruise control kits to 88MY.
2.
The XT Cruise Control kit available for GL models.
