Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
1.
Raise and support vehicle.
2.
Disconnect brake hose from caliper.
3.
Remove caliper guide pin caps.
4.
Using a 6 mm Allen wrench, remove caliper guide pins, then caliper.
5.
Clean caliper with brake fluid.
6.
Using compressed air, remove piston from caliper. Keep fingers away from piston.
7.
Using a suitable screwdriver, remove piston seal from caliper. Take care not to damage bore of cylinder.
8.
Install new piston seal in cylinder.

Install new boot on piston as shown in Fig. 5.
10.
Install piston into cylinder by hand. Ensure boot fits in groove in piston.
11.
Install caliper, then pads.
12.
Torque caliper bolts to 18.5-21.5 ft. lbs.
13.
Connect brake hose, and torque bolt to 14.5-18 ft. lbs.
14.
Install wheel assembly, then lower vehicle and test brakes.
