Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
8 Valve Engines
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.
2.
Remove air intake case.
3.
On models equipped with automatic transmission, disconnect accelerator cable and kick-down cable from throttle body.
4.
On all models, disconnect injector, throttle position sensor, ISC control solenoid valve and EGR sensor connectors.
5.
Disconnect vacuum hoses from throttle body and throttle opener.
6.
Disconnect water hose from ISC solenoid valve, then ISC air hose.
7.
With throttle valve lever held at full open, disconnect fuel feed pipe from throttle body and intake manifold.
8.
Disconnect fuel return hose from pressure regulator.
9.
Remove throttle body from intake manifold, then disconnect PCV hose from valve.
10.
Disconnect pressure sensor and brake booster hoses from intake manifold.
11.
On models equipped with automatic transmission, disconnect vacuum hose for transmission from intake manifold.
12.
On all models, disconnect VSV hoses from intake manifold.
13.
Disconnect water hose from thermostat cap, heater inlet hose and water bypass hose from intake manifold.
14.
Disconnect EGR hose from valve, then the ground wires from intake manifold.
15.
Disconnect all necessary electrical connectors.
16.
Release wire harness from clamps.
17.
Remove intake manifold from cylinder head.
18.
Reverse procedure to install. Torque all bolts/nuts to specifications.
