Valve Body: Service and Repair
Automatic Transmissions, A340E & A340H
Valve Body, Replace
Removal
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then clean exterior of transmission.
2.
Raise and support vehicle, then drain transmission fluid.
3.
Remove oil pan, filler tube and gasket.
4.
On A340E models, remove three attaching bolts, then oil strainer and gasket.
5.
On A340H models, remove eleven attaching bolts, oil strainer and gasket, then the five attaching bolts and oil strainer case.
6.
On all models, note position of oil tubes to facilitate installation, then remove oil tubes.
7.
Disconnect solenoid electrical connectors.
8.
Remove valve body attaching screws, then the CO, B2 and C2 accumulator piston springs with B2 and C2 piston spacers.
9.
Disconnect throttle cable from cam then remove valve body.
Installation
1.
Connect throttle cable to cam.
2.
Align manual valve lever with manual valve, then install CO, B2 and C2 accumulator piston springs with B2 and C2 piston spacers.

3.
Install valve body attaching bolts as shown, Figs. 4 and 5, then torque to 7 ft. lbs.
