Ball Joint: Testing and Inspection
Upper
INSPECTION
NOTE: Inspect the ball joint for rotation condition by doing the following.
a. As shown, flip the ball joint stud back and forth five times, before installing the nut.
b. Using a torque wrench, turn the nut continuously one turn each 2 - 4 seconds and take the torque reading on the fifth turn. The turning torque is
0.7 - 4.4 Nm (6 - 39 inch lbs.).
