Ignition Timing: Adjustments

1. Connect a timing light to the engine. Disconnect and plug the vacuum line to the vacuum advance.
2. Start the engine and run it at idle. Idle should be no more than 950 rpm, adjust as necessary.

3. Slowly turn the distributor until the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley, when illuminated by the timing light, indicates 5° BTDC.
4. Tighten the distributor lockdown bolt. Torque to 1.8 - 2.6 kgm (14 - 18 ft.lbs).
5. Reconnect the vacuum line to the vacuum advance.
