Fig. 11  LSPV Spring Removal

1.

Remove rear seat, then package tray trim.

2.

Raise and support vehicle, then remove rear wheels.

3.

On models with ABS, disconnect LSPV spring from lower arm, Fig. 11.

4.

Disconnect ABS speed sensor wire, then brake hose from shock absorber.

5.

Disconnect stabilizer bar link from shock absorber.

6.

Support rear axle carrier with a suitable jack, loosen two lower shock attaching nuts, then remove three upper support attaching nuts.

7.

Lower rear axle carrier, remove two lower attaching bolts, then remove shock absorber from vehicle.

8.

Remove cap, attach spring compress No. SST 09727-30020 or equivalent, then compress spring.

9.

Install a bolt and two nuts to bracket at lower portion of shock absorber, then place in vice, Fig. 12.

10.

Using spring compress to hold upper support, remove shock absorber attaching nut, then coil spring.

11.

Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. When replacing upper support, use a new attaching nut.
b. Rotate upper support and set in direction as shown in Fig. 13.
c. Tighten all nuts and bolts to specifications.
