Axle Bearing: Service and Repair

1.

Remove rear axle hub as outlined under Wheel Hub, Service and Repair.

2.

Remove brake hose from shock absorber.

3.

Remove backing plate from rear axle carrier and position aside using suitable wire.

4.

On models with anti-lock brakes, remove ABS speed sensor from axle carrier and disconnect Load Sensing Proportioning Valve (LSPV) spring
from lower arm.

5.

On models with coded audio anti-theft systems, loosen but do not remove three axle carrier attaching nuts, Fig.

6.

Disconnect strut rod from axle carrier.

7.

Remove axle carrier three attaching nuts and bolts, then remove axle carrier.

8.

Reverse procedure to install.
