Water Pump: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable, then the coolant temperature switch connector.

2.

Disconnect lower radiator hose from coolant inlet housing.

3.

Remove timing belt and sprockets. Refer to TIMING BELT for procedure.

REMOVE WATER PUMP AND WATER PUMP COVER ASSEMBLY

Remove water bypass tubes to water pump cover attaching bolts, then the three water pump attaching bolts.

(a) Remove the two nuts holding the pump to the water by-pass pipe.
(b) Remove the three bolts in the sequence shown.
(c) Pull out the water pump together with pump cover.
(d) Remove the two 0-rings and gasket.

DISASSEMBLE WATER PUMP AND WATER PUMP COVER

Remove the three bolts, water pump and gasket from the pump cover.
