Thermal Vacuum Valve - EVAP: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. DRAIN COOLANT FROM RADIATOR INTO A SUITABLE CONTAINER.

2. REMOVE THE THERMAL VACUUM VALVE (TVV) FROM THE WATER INLET HOUSING.

3. INSPECT TVV OPERATION.

a. Cool TVV to below 35°c (95°f) with cool water.

Check that air does not flow from the upper port to the lower port.

b. Heat TVV to above 54°C (129°F) with hot water.

Check that air flows freely from the upper port to the lower port. 

-

If operation is not as specified, replace the TVV.

4. APPLY ADHESIVE TO THREADS OF THE TVV AND REINSTALL.

Torque Value:  29 Nm (22 ft.lb) 

5. REFILL COOLING SYSTEM AND INSPECT FOR LEAKS.
