Then verify that the accelerator cable, from the accelerator pedal or from the cruise control unit, is not overly tight at the throttle body adjustment.

NOTE:

There should be enough play in the cable so that with the throttle fully closed the cable housing can be moved without moving the throttle valve.

The cable should not seem taut to the touch.

Once you have finished this inspection and adjustment verify that the throttle can achieve a fully open position.

STEP 4:

1.

Remove and inspect all spark plugs for carbon fouling.

If one or two spark plugs are fouled, replace those spark plugs and the corresponding fuel injectors. Fuel injector removal and installation
instructions can be found in the 2001 Camry Repair Manual, Pub. No. RM819U, Volume 2, on pages SF-22 and SF-25, respectively.

If all spark plugs are fouled, replace only spark plugs - do not replace the fuel injectors in this instance.

4.

Install and torque all spark plugs.

STEP 5:

Replace the negative battery cable and tighten. Start and drive the vehicle at least two times to verify proper operation of all components and removal of
M.I.L. "ON" condition.
