Celica L4-122 1998cc 2.0L DOHC Turbo (3S-GTE) (1990)
Variable Boost Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
1. Unplug connector and remove Turbocharger Pressure Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) from the RH side of the engine.
2. Using an Ohmmeter, measure the resistance across the terminals.
Checking Turbocharger Pressure VSV For Open Circuit
Resistance:
24 - 30 Ohms
3. If not as specified, replace the VSV.
4. Check for continuity between the terminals and the VSV body. If continuity exists, replace the VSV.
Checking Turbocharger Pressure VSV For Short Circuit
5. Blow through either pipe and ensure that NO air flows through other pipe.
Testing Turbocharger Pressure VSV - Current Removed
6. Connect battery current to the VSV terminals. Blow through either pipe and ensure that air flows through other pipe..
Testing Turbocharger Pressure VSV - Current Applied
7. If a problem is found, replace the VSV.
8. Reinstall the Turbocharger Pressure VSV on the engine.
