1983 Celica Throttle Valve Cable Adjustment
Throttle Valve Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair
1.
Remove air cleaner and disconnect cable from the bracket, cable guides (if equipped) and throttle lever.
2.
Raise and support vehicle and remove valve body as outlined.
3.
Push cable from transmission housing using a 10 mm socket.
4.
Press replacement cable into housing ensuring cable is fully seated.
5.
Reinstall valve body as outlined, then lower vehicle.
6.
Mark replacement cable for adjustment as follows. Replacement cable does not have a cable stop, and must be properly marked to allow
adjustment.
a. Pull inner cable from housing until slight resistance can be felt. Hold in this position.

b. Paint reference mark on inner cable as shown in Fig. 1.
7.
Reconnect cable to throttle lever and brackets, then adjust as outlined, using paint mark instead of stopper as reference.
8.
Ensure transmission is filled to specified level and road test vehicle.
