2S-E, 3E, 3S-FE, 3S-GE & 3S-GTE ENGINES

Using a suitable feeler gauge, measure clearance between driven rotor and pump case, Figs. 139 and 140.

Clearance should be .0039-.0067 inch except on 1986-87 models. On 1986-88 models, clearance should be .0039-.0063 inch. If feeler gauge
clearance obtained exceeds specified limits, replace oil pump rotor set and/or pump case.

Using a feeler gauge, measure clearance between both rotor tips. Clearance should be .0016-.0063 inch on all except 3E engine. On 3E engine
clearance should be .0024-.0063 inch. If feeler gauge clearance obtained exceeds specified limit, replace oil pump rotor set.
4.
On 3E engines, place suitable straightedge across pump opening and measure side clearance. Side clearance should be .0012-.0035 inch. If
clearance is greater than specifications, replace oil pump rotor set and/or pump body.
