Vacuum Solenoid Valve HVAC: Testing and Inspection

1.
Disconnect electrical connector and vacuum hoses from valve.
2.
Check for continuity between each valve electrical terminal and body of valve using ohmmeter. If meter indicates continuity, valve is shorted.
3.
Check resistance between valve terminals using ohmmeter. If resistance is not 38-44 ohms at 68 degrees F., valve is defective.
4.
Connect battery to valve electrical terminals using suitable jumper wires, then blow air into port F, Fig. 19. Air should be discharged through port
E.
5.
Disconnect battery and blow air through port F. Air should be discharged through filter G, Fig. 19, but not through port E.
6.
If valve fails to perform as outlined, valve is defective.
