Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

REPLACEMENT 

1. REMOVE CONVERTER

a. Jack up the vehicle.
b. Check that the converter is cool.
c. Remove the 2 bolts and exhaust pipe stay.

Torque:  33 N.m (330 kgf.cm, 24 ft.lbf) 

d. Remove the 2 bolts holding the center exhaust pipe to the tailpipe.

Torque:  19 N.m (190 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) 

e. Remove the bolt, clamp holding the front exhaust pipe to the center pipe.

Torque:  32 N.m (320 kgf.cm, 24 ft.lbf)

Remove the center exhaust pipe and 2 gaskets.

HINT:  At the time of installation, install a new gasket to the pipe assembly.

2. INSTALL CONVERTER

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
