Oil Pump: Service and Repair
Oil Pump Replace
1987-88 Corolla Front Wheel Drive Models
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then make reference marks in hood hinge area and remove hood.
2.
Raise and support vehicle, then drain engine oil into suitable container and remove engine under cover.
3.
Remove oil pan attaching nuts and bolts, then the oil pan.
4.
Remove oil strainer attaching bolts and nuts, then remove strainer and gasket.
5.
Remove timing belt and crankshaft sprocket. Refer to ``Timing Belt, Replace'' for procedure.
6.
Remove baffle plate from cylinder block, if equipped.
7.
On all models, remove dipstick and tube.
8.
Remove seven oil pump attaching bolts, then the oil pump.
9.
Reverse procedure to install.
