Remove the #3 check ball and spring from the lower valve body.
The vehicle will operate without the #3 check ball and spring.. Check for and remove any spring particles in this area.

Reassemble the valve body with the repaired or new lock-up relay valve and sleeve. Use new gaskets. (Refer to correct R/M for procedure).

Check the remaining valves in the valve body for free movement and correct travel.

Reinstall the valve body into the transmission.

Reinstall the oil pan and oil pan plug.

Fill transmission with automatic transmission fluid (Dexron#ll).
The #3 check ball and spring have been deleted in production for the following model applications:
