Cold Start Injector: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect the Cold Start Injector connector.
2. Using an Ohmmeter, measure the resistance across the terminals.

RESISTANCE:2 - 4 Ohms

3. If not as specified, replace the Cold Start Injector.
4. To test injector operation, remove Cold Start Injector from intake plenum.  Refer to COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR for proper

procedure.

5. Using special service tools (SST), connect Cold Start Injector to the fuel delivery pipe with new gaskets and union bolt.

6. Connect SST jumper wire connector and place a container under the Cold Start Injector to catch the expelled fuel.
7. Reconnect the negative battery cable, if removed and turn the ignition switch ON.
8. Using a service wire, short terminals +B and FP of the engine check connector.  This will cause the fuel pump to operate and pressurize the system.

9. Connect the test probes to the battery and check the fuel spray pattern of the Cold Start Injector.

10. If injector does not spray, replace the Cold Start Injector.
11. If injector does spray normally, remove probes from battery and check injector for leakage.
