Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair

REPLACEMENT

1. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE:  Do not let brake fluid remain on a painted surface. Wash it off immediately.

2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH HOSE
3. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION BRACE SUB-ASSY UPPER CENTER

a. Disconnect the wire harness clamp from the brace sub-assy. (w/o VSC)
b. Disconnect the 2 wire harness clamps and ABS R/B from the brace sub-assy. (w/ VSC)
c. Remove the 4 nuts and brace sub-assy.

4. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER LESS RESERVOIR TANK CYLINDER SUB-ASSY

5. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER GASKET
6. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (W/O VSC)

7. REMOVE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (W/ VSC)

SST 09023-00100

8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER
9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PNL INSERT SUB-ASSY LWR LH

10. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING
11. REMOVE PUSH ROD PIN
12. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSY

a. Remove the 2 nuts and separate the brake lines from the body.
b. Slide the clip and disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster.

c. Remove the 4 nuts and clevis.
d. Pull out the brake booster assy.

13. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET
14. INSTALL BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET

a. Install a new brake booster gasket to the brake booster.

15. INSTALL BRAKE BOOSTER ASSY

a. Install the clevis to the booster push rod.
