Introduction 

Some owners of 2001 or 2002 model year Highlander vehicles without the VSC option may experience a M.I.L. "ON" condition with Diagnostic
Trouble Code P0500 present in the system and may complain that the ABS light is illuminated. An updated Skid Control ECU has now been made
available to correct this condition.

Repair Procedure

1.

Investigate the vehicle as per the 2001 Highlander Repair Manual, Volume 1, Section 05, pages 98-100.

2.

If no problem is found, replace the Skid Control ECU, per the 2001 Highlander Repair Manual, Volume 1, Section 32, page 52.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty *:

This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from
the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
