TITLE
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL - 1988 LAND CRUISER
In order to obtain an accurate automatic transmission fluid (ATF) level on 1988 Land Cruisers, the transmission must be in "Park" and at normal
operating temperature (160~ - 170~ F).
Inspection of ATF level when the transmission is cold may indicate a low or empty ATF condition. Adding additional and unnecessary ATF at this time
may cause overfilling, overheating and possible transmission damage.
Therefore, do not add additional ATF fluid based on readings taken at cool transmission temperatures.
ATF LEVEL INSPECTION
Note:
In the event that ATF is required (such as during normal recommended service intervals), be sure to use Dexron II.
