Axle Shaft: Service and Repair
Axle Shaft, Conventional Fixed/Floating
1.
Raise and support vehicle.
2.
Remove rear wheel and brake drum, then drain differential oil.
3.
Remove LSPV shackle bracket, then remove parking brake cable clamp.
4.
Remove differential cover.
5.
Remove pinion shaft and spacer. Push axle toward differential and remove lock from axle located in differential. Remove axle.
6.
Using seal puller 09308-00010, or equivalent, remove axle seal.
7.
Using bearing puller 09514-35011, or equivalent, remove bearing.
8.
Reverse procedure to install.
