Fig. 10  Water Pump Removal (Part 2 Of 2)

Refer to Fig. 10 for water pump replacement.

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable, then wait at least 90 seconds to begin work.

2.

Remove engine undercovers, RH engine hood side panel, then drain coolant into a suitable container.

3.

Disconnect A/C compressor from engine without removing hoses.

4.

Remove timing belt See: Engine/Timing Components/Timing Belt/Service and RepairTiming Belt.

5.

Disconnect radiator hose from water inlet.

6.

Remove timing belt tension spring and No. 2 idler pulley.

7.

Remove water pump and water pump cover assembly.

8.

Reverse procedure to install, tightening all bolts to specifications.

9.

On models with air bag system, rearm airbag system as outlined under Technician Safety Information. If audio system was disabled, activate
as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
