Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair

1.

Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.

2.

Disconnect brake hose from strut.

3.

Remove lower strut attaching nuts and bolts, Fig. 1, then disconnect strut from steering knuckle.

4.

Remove three nuts holding top of suspension support.

5.

remove strut from body.

6.

Using coil spring compressor 09727-30020 or equivalent, compress coil spring.

7.

Install a bolt and two nuts to lower portion of strut shell and secure in vise.

8.

Using spring seat holding tool No. 09729-22031 or equivalent, remove nut, suspension upper support, upper insulator, coil spring, spring bumper
and lower insulator. Do not disassemble spring lower seat.

9.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Fit lower end of coil spring into gap of lower seat.
b. Tighten all attaching nuts and bolts to specifications.
