NOTE: Make sure you install the oil seal facing the correct direction.
5. Install the bushing and cylinder end stopper and do the following.
a. Install a new bushing to the stopper.
b. Using the 09631 - 20090 SST, tighten the stopper to 59 Nm (43 ft. lbs.).
6. Perform an air tightness test by doing the following.
a. Install the 09631 - 12071 SST to the rack housing.
NOTE: Do not install union seats.
b. Apply 53 kPa (15.75 inch Hg) of vacuum for about 30 seconds.
c. Check that there is no change in the vacuum. If there is change in the vacuum, check the installation of the oil seals.
7. Install the control valve assembly by doing these procedures.
a. Coat the teflon rings with power steering fluid.
b. Push the valve assembly into the rack housing.
8. Using the 09612-22011 SST and a press, press in a new bearing.
9. Install a new oil seal by doing the following.
a. Coat a new oil seal lip with power steering fluid.
b. Using the 09612 - 22011 SST and a press, press in the oil seal until it contacts the bearing.
NOTE: Make sure you install the oil seal facing the correct direction.
c. Using snap ring pliers, install a new snap ring to the rack housing.
10. Install the self-locking nut after doing the following.
a. Coat a new bearing with molybdenum disulfide lithium base grease.
b. Install the bearing to the control valve shaft.
