Throttle Valve Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair

THROTTLE CABLE REMOVAL 

1. Disconnect throttle cable from throttle linkage.
2. Remove park/neutral position switch.

3. Remove throttle cable retaining plate. 

Remove the bolt and plate.

4. Remove throttle cable from valve body.
5. Remove throttle cable from case. 

Pull out the throttle cable.

THROTTLE CABLE INSTALLATION 

1. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

If throttle cable is new, stake the stopper on the inner cable.

NOTE:  New cable does not have a cable stopper staked.

a. Bend the cable so there is a radius of about 200 mm (7.87 in.).
b. Pull the inner cable lightly until a slight resistance is felt, and hold it.

Stake the stopper, 0.8 - 1.5 mm (0.031 - 0.059 in.) from the end of outer cable.

After installation, adjust the throttle cable as follows.

Check that the throttle valve is fully closed.

Check that the inner cable has no slack.
