Oil Pan: Service and Repair
Installation

1.

Remove all old packing material and be careful not to drop any oil on the contacting surfaces of the oil pan and cylinder block.

Using a razor blade and gasket scraper, remove all the packing material from the gasket surfaces.
Thoroughly clean all components to remove all of the loose material.
Clean both sealing surfaces with a non-residue solvent.

NOTE:

Do not use a solvent which will affect painted surfaces.

2. Apply sealer to the pan gasket as shown in the figure.

Install a nozzle that has been cut to a 5 mm (0.20 in) opening.

NOTE:

Avoid applying an excess amount to the surface. Be especially careful near oil passages.

Parts must be assembled within 5 minutes of application. Otherwise, the sealer must be removed and re-applied. Immediately remove nozzle from
tube and reinstall cap.

3. Install the oil pan over the studs on the block with 17 bolts and 2 nuts.  Torque the bolts and nuts to 40-80 kg-cm (35-69 in. lb).

4. Lower the engine and install the engine mounting bolts.
5. Install the engine under cover.
6. Allow sealant to dry for 30 minutes before adding oil to the crankcase.
