Timing Belt Removal And Installation

Remove timing belt. If the original timing belt is going to be used, draw a direction arrow on the timing belt (in direction of engine rotation) and
place alignment marks on the pulley and timing belt, Fig. 7.

Remove timing belt guide.

Removal Of Tension Spring

Loosening No. 1 Idler Pulley Bolt

Remove tension spring. Inspect the free length of the spring. Length should be 56.275 mm (2.2155 in.).

Loosen the idler pulley attaching bolt and shift it toward the left as far as it will go. Temporarily tighten the set bolt and then relieve timing belt
tension. Remove belt from each timing pulley/sprocket.
