Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) for EGR: Testing and Inspection

Testing VSV For Short Circuit

Testing VSV For Open Circuit

1. Disconnect electrical connector and vacuum hoses from the vacuum switching valve. Remove the VSV from the engine.
2. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between the terminals and the housing body. Fig. 45
3. If there is any continuity, replace the VSV.
4. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance between the terminals, Fig. 46. The resistance should be 30 - 50 Ohms at 68°F ambient temperature.
5. If not as specified, replace the VSV.
