Ignition Timing: Adjustments

IGNITION TIMING:

Installing Jumper Wire

1.

Using a service wire, connect the engine check connector.

Advanced Timing Mark

2.

Connect the positive lead of a timing light to terminal #30 of the starter. Connect the negative lead to engine ground. Connect the inductive
pick-up to #1 spark plug wire.

3.

Check ignition timing. Adjust timing to specification.

Distributor Hold Down Bolt

4.

Loosen the mounting bolts on the distributor.

5.

Adjust the timing by turning the distributor.

Ignition Timing:

5° BTDC @ Idle

6.

Tighten the mounting bolt, and recheck the ignition timing.

7.

Remove the service check wire.
