Previa Van 2WD L4-148.8 2438cc 2.4L DOHC (2TZ-FE) (1992)
5. Connect the Special Service Tool fuel pressure gauge between the fuel rail and the fuel inlet line using the union bolt and new gaskets to provide a
tight seal.
Connecting The SST To The Fuel Rail
SST: 09268-45012
6. Wipe off any gasoline that may have escaped when the fuel pipe was disconnected and reconnect negative battery terminal.
7. Install a jumper wire between +B and FP of the service check connector, turn on the ignition WITHOUT starting the engine and observe the fuel
pressure gauge.
Installing Service Wire On The Engine Service Check Connector
Fuel Pressure:
38 - 44 PSI (265 - 304 kPa)
8. If pressure is low, check fuel pump output and/or fuel filter for restrictions. If pressure is high, continue checking FPR.
9. Remove the jumper wire from the check connector and start the engine.
10. Disconnect vacuum sensor hose to Fuel Pressure Regulator, plug off the end, and observe gauge readings at idle.
Checking The Fuel Pressure - Vacuum Removed
Fuel Pressure:
38 - 44 PSI (265 - 304 kPa)
11. Reconnect the vacuum hose to the FPR and measure the fuel pressure at idling.
Fuel Pressure:
30 - 36 PSI (206 - 245 kPa)
12. If fuel pressure is not as specified, check the vacuum hose. If no problems are found with the vacuum hose, replace the FPR. Refer to FUEL
PRESSURE REGULATOR (FPR).
13. Stop the engine. Check that the fuel pressure remains above 21 psi (147 kPa) for 5 minutes after engine shutdown.
14. If not within specification, check the fuel pump and/or injectors. If no problem is found, replace the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
15. Stop the engine and disconnect the fuel pressure gauge from between the fuel inlet line and the fuel rail.
16. Reinstall the fuel delivery line to the fuel rail.
17. Wipe off any gasoline that may have escaped when the fuel pipe was disconnected.
18. Start the engine and check the Fuel Rail for cracks or signs of fuel leakage, especially around the fuel injectors.
