Valve Clearance: Adjustments

VALVE CLEARANCE INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT

HINT: Inspect and adjust the valve clearance when the engine is cold.

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

1.  REMOVE RH ENGINE SERVICE HOLE COVER

(a)  Remove the 3 screws and scuff plate.
(b) Remove the bolt and disconnect the RH seat belt from the front floor panel.

Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

(c)  Remove the 4 bolts and RH front seat.

Torque: 39 N.m (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbf)

(d) Remove the 2 bolts and RH front seat leg.

Torque: 39 N.m (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbf)

(e)  Remove the jack and tool bag.
(f)  Remove the 2 bolts and jack holder.

Torque: 14 N.m (146 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)

(g)  Remove the 9 bolts and RH engine service hole cover.

Torque: 14 N.m (146 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)

2.  REMOVE NO.1 CYLINDER HEAD COVER

(a)  Remove the 3 bolts and No.2 cylinder head cover with the gasket.

Torque: 5.5 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)

(b) Remove the PCV hose.
(c)  Disconnect the 4 high-tension cords from the spark plugs.
(d) Remove the bolt and No.2 cord clamp support plate.

Torque: 5 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 43 in.lbf)
