Positive Crankcase Ventilation: Testing and Inspection

To check PCV valve, remove it from engine and alternately apply air to both sides of valve. Air should flow freely when applied from the crankcase end
of valve, Fig. 5. Air should not flow when applied from the intake manifold side. Fig. 6

System Inspection Points

Check all hoses, gaskets and seals for deterioration, obstructions, wear or damage. Ensure all hoses fit tightly. Fig. 4
