Previa Van DX 4WD L4-2438cc 2.4L DOHC SC MFI (1997)
1. Measure PS vane pump rotating torque.
a. Check that the pump rotates smoothly without abnormal noise.
b. Using a torque wrench, check the pump rotating torque.
Rotating torque: 0.3 Nm (2.4 inch lbs.) or less
2. Remove vane pump pulley.
a. Set Special Service Tool (SST) as shown, and install 2 nuts.
SST 09950 - 50010 (09951 - 05010, 09952 - 05010, 09953 - 05020.09954 - 05030) or equivalents.
b. Using SST, remove the pulley.
SST 09950 - 50010 (09951 - 05010, 09952 - 05010, 09953 - 05020, 09954 - 05030) or equivalents.
3. Remove suction port union.
a. Remove the bolt.
b. Remove the O-ring from the union.
4. Remove pressure port union, flow control valve and spring. Remove the O-ring from the union.
5. Remove rear housing.
a. Remove the 4 bolts.
b. Remove the 2 O-rings form the rear housing.
6. Remove gasket.
7. Remove wave washer.
8. Remove side plate.
9. Remove cam ring, vane plates and vane pump rotor. Remove the 10 plates.
NOTICE: Take care not to drop the plate.
10. Remove straight pins. Remove the 2 pins from the front housing.
11. Remove vane pump shaft with bearing.
a. Using pliers, remove the wire from the front housing.
b. Using SST and an extension bar, press out the shaft with the bearing.
SST 09515 - 21010 or equivalent.
NOTICE: Take care not to drop the shaft.
