EGR Backpressure Transducer: Testing and Inspection
INSPECTION
1. Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses (from ports P and R of the exhaust gas recirculation vacuum modulator) from the vacuum pipe, and plug them.
2. Disconnect the vacuum hose (from port 0 of the exhaust gas recirculation vacuum modulator) from the exhaust gas recirculation vacuum
modulator bracket.
3. Blow air into port 0, and check that the air passes through to the air filter side freely.
4. Start the engine and maintain speed at 3,500 rpm.
5. Repeat the above test. Check that there is a strong resistance to air flow.
If operation is not as specified, replace the exhaust gas recirculation vacuum modulator.
6. Reconnect the vacuum hoses to the proper locations.
