Brake Pedal Assy: Service and Repair
Removal

BRAKE SYSTEM (OTHER): BRAKE PEDAL: REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected    See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning.

2. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH   See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal

3. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH   See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal

4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH   See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and

5. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Body and Frame/Doors, Hood and Trunk/Hood/Hood Latch Release

6. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH   See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard

7. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY   See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and

8. REMOVE NO. 1 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT

(a) Remove the bolt and defroster nozzle duct.

9. REMOVE PUSH ROD PIN

(a) Remove the clip and push rod pin from the brake pedal lever.

10. REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY   See: Lighting and Horns/Brake Light Switch/Service and Repair/Removal

11. REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH MOUNTING ADJUSTER

(a) Remove the stop light switch mounting adjuster.

12. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the brake pedal return spring.

(b) Remove the bolt from the No. 3 brake pedal bracket.
