Repair Procedure

Replace the spare tire carrier assembly using the procedures outlined below.

1.

Lower and remove the spare tire from the carrier assembly.

2.

Remove and replace the spare tire carrier assembly.

A.

Remove the six nuts, plastic cover, and remove the spare tire carrier assembly (see Figure 1).

B.

Replace the spare tire carrier assembly with a NEW part.

Torque: 5.4 N*m (5 ft*lbf)

3.

Place spare tire on carrier and raise into place using the new pentagon shaped socket.

4.

Place the new pentagon-shaped socket in the plastic pouch provided and place it with the jack/tools located in the rear of the vehicle (see Figure
2).
