System Description
CAN Communication System
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
a. CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial data communication system for real time application. It is a multiplex communication system to be
equipped for a vehicle and has a high communication speed (500 kbps) and the function to detect malfunction.
b. Pairing the CANH wire harness and CANL wire harness, the CAN performs the communication based on the voltage difference.
c. The SIENNA uses the CAN communication system for the communication between the following ECU and sensors in the ABS with EBD & BA
& TRAC & VSC system.
-
Skid control ECU
-
Yaw rate sensor
-
Steering angle sensor
d. The skid control ECU stores and outputs DTCs in stead of the steering angle sensor and yaw rate sensor because they cannot store or output
DTCs.
e. In the CAN communication system, 2 terminus circuits* which are necessary to communicate with the mainline are placed.
*: A circuit which consists of a resistor and condenser is placed to convert the communication current of the CAN communication into bus voltage.
