Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

INSPECTION OF KNOCK SENSORS 

1.  DISCONNECT NEGATIVE TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY.

CAUTION: Work must not be started for at least 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the
Negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery. 

2.  REMOVE STARTER.
3.  REMOVE KNOCK SENSORS.

(a)  Disconnect the knock sensor connector.

(b) Using the special service tool (SST 09816-30010) or equivalent, remove the knock sensor. 

4.  INSPECT KNOCK SENSORS.

Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between the terminal and body.

If there is continuity, replace the sensor.

5.  REINSTALL KNOCK SENSORS.
