Throttle Body: Service and Repair
REMOVAL:
1. Drain engine coolant from throttle body.
2. Disconnect accelerator connecting rod.
3. Disconnect vacuum hoses.
4. Disconnect TPS connector.
5. Disconnect hoses:
a. Air cleaner hose
b. No.2 water bypass hose
c. No.3 water bypass hose
6. Remove throttle body bracket.
7. Remove four bolts, throttle body and gasket.
Removing Throttle Body From Air Intake Connector
8. Remove the vacuum transmitting valve (VTV).
INSTALLATION:
1. Install the VTV.
2. Install a new gasket between the throttle body and the intake plenum.
3. Install the throttle body using the four mounting bolts. Torque the bolts evenly to 9 ft.lbs. (13 N-m).
4. Install throttle body bracket.
5. Connect hoses:
a. No.2 water bypass hose
b. No.3 water bypass hose
c. Air cleaner hose
6. Connect TPS connector.
7. Connect vacuum hoses.
8. Connect accelerator connecting rod and adjust. Refer to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES for proper procedure.
9. Fill radiator with coolant.
10. Start engine and check for vacuum leaks.
