Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Testing and Inspection
CHARCOAL CANISTER INSPECTION
1. DISCONNECT EVAP HOSES AND CONNECTORS
(a) Disconnect the EVAP hoses from the charcoal canister and VSV.
(b) Disconnect the 2 connectors from the VSV.
2. REMOVE VSV ASSEMBLY
3. REMOVE CHARCOAL CANISTER
4. VISUALLY INSPECT CHARCOAL CANISTER
Look for cracks or damage.
5. CHECK FOR CLOGGED FILTER, AND STUCK CHECK VALVE AND DIAPHRAGM
(a) Install a plug to port E.
(b) While holding port B closed, blow air (1.47 kPa, 15 gf/sq.cm. 0.21 psi) into port A and check that air flows from port D.
(c) While holding port B and port D closed, blow air (1.76 kPa, 18 gf/sq.cm, 0.26 psi) into port A and check that air does not flow from port C.
