Disconnect throttle cable from throttle body, then remove intake air connector tube.

On models with A/C, remove A/C idle-up valve.

Disconnect spark plug wires.
9.
Disconnect and remove all connectors and hoses from throttle body, then remove throttle body.
10.
Disconnect electrical connectors and wiring attached to cylinder head cover, then remove cylinder head cover.
11.
With engine cold, set engine to No. 1 cylinder TDC compression stroke by aligning matchmarks shown in Figs. 3 and 13.
12.
With engine in this position check clearance of the following valves:
a. No. 1 intake and exhaust valves.
b. No. 2 intake valves.
c. No. 3 exhaust valves.
d. Record these readings.
e. Valve clearance should be:
Intake
0.006-0.010 inches
Exhaust
0.010-0.014 inches

If any measurement was found outside specifications, remove valve adjustment shim using valve lifter cam wrench set tool No. SST 09248-55040,
or equivalent, to depress lifter and a magnet to remove shim, Figs. 16 and 17.
14.
Using a micrometer measure thickness of removed shim, record this dimension.
