Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Testing and Inspection
On-Vehicle Inspection

1. INSPECT IDLE AIR CONTROL (IAC) VALVE OPERATION.

Initial conditions:
-

Engine at normal operating temperature.

-

Idle speed set correctly.

-

Transmission in neutral range.

-

Using SST 09843-18020 or equivalent, connect terminals TE1 and E1 of the DLC 1.

After engine rpm is kept at 1,000 - 1,500 rpm for 5 seconds, check that it returns to idle speed. If the rpm operation is not as specified, check
the IAC valve, wiring and ECU.

Remove SST.

2. INSPECT IAC VALVE RESISTANCE.

-

Disconnect the IAC valve connector.

-

Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminal +B and other terminals (RSC, RSO).

Resistance: 19.3 - 22.3 Ohms 

-

If resistance is not as specified, replace the IAC valve.

-

Reconnect the IAC valve connector.
