Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
1.
Obtain audio anti-theft code, if equipped, as outlined in Technician Safety Information.
2.
On all models, disconnect battery ground cable, then discharge system refrigerant.
3.
Disconnect suction tube and liquid tube from cooling unit fitting. Cap or plug fitting openings to keep moisture out of system.
4.
Remove two grommets and drain pipe grommet.
5.
Remove glove compartment door.
6.
Remove instrument panel lower center cover.
7.
Remove glove compartment door reinforcement screws, then the reinforcement.
8.
Disconnect cooling unit connectors, then remove cooling unit.
9.
Remove four clips and four screws from cooling unit case, then the upper cooling unit case, Fig. 23

10.
Remove thermistor with thermistor holder, then the lower unit case and evaporator core.
11.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque liquid tube to cooling unit inlet fitting to 10 ft. lb.
b. Torque suction tube to cooling unit outlet fitting to 24 ft. lb.
