T100 SR5 Extra Cab Pickup 2WD V6-3.4L (5VZ-FE) (1997)
a. Using a dial indicator, check the backlash in the bearing shaft direction.
Maximum: 0.7 mm (0.027 inch).
If the backlash exceeds the maximum, replace the bearing.
b. Using a dial indicator, check the deviation at the surface of the axle shaft outside the hub bolt.
Maximum: 0.1 mm (0.0039 inch).
If the deviation at the backlash exceeds the maximum, replace the axle shaft.
4. Remove rear brake assembly.
5. With Ant-Lock Brake System (ABS), remove ABS speed sensor from rear axle housing.
Torque: 8.0 Nm (71 inch lbs.).
6. Disconnect brake line and parking brake cable. Using Special Service Tool (SST) 09751 - 36011 or equivalent, disconnect the brake line from the
wheel cylinder.
Torque: 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
7. Remove rear axle shaft assembly, as follows:
a. Remove the four backing plate mounting nuts.
Torque: 69 Nm (51 ft. lbs.).
b. Pull out the rear axle shaft assembly from the rear axle housing.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the oil seal.
8. Remove O-ring from rear axle housing.
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
NOTE: After installation, check the ABS speed sensor signal.
