Oil Pan: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1.

Remove engine undercover.

2.

Drain engine oil into a suitable container.

3.

Remove the engine mounting bolts.

4.

Remove the 16 bolts and 2 nuts.

5.

Using SST 09032-00100 or equivalent, separate the oil pan from the cylinder block.

NOTE:When removing the oil pan, be careful not to damage the oil pan flange.

INSTALLATION

1.

Remove all old packing material and be careful not to drop any  oil on the contacting surfaces of the oil pan and cylinder block.
a. Using a razor blade and gasket scraper, remove all the packing (FIPG) material from the gasket surfaces.
b. Thoroughly clean all components to remove all of the loose material.
c. Clean both sealing surfaces with a non-residue solvent.

NOTE:Do not use a solvent which will affect painted surfaces.

Apply seal packing to the joint part of the cylinder block and chain cover, cylinder block, and rear oil seal retainer.

Seal packing: Toyota Part No. 08826-00080 or equivalent

3.

Apply seal packing to the oil pan as shown in the image. Install a nozzle on the tube that has been cut to a 5 mm (0.20 in) opening.
NOTE: Avoid applying an excess amount to the surface. Be especially careful near oil passages.
a. Parts must be assembled within 5 minutes of application. Otherwise, the material must be removed and re-applied. Immediately remove nozzle

from tube and reinstall cap.

4.

Install the oil pan over the studs on the block with 16 bolts and 2 nuts. Torque the bolts and nuts to 12 N.m (9 ft. lb).

5.

Install the engine under cover.

6.

Wait 30 minutes before adding engine oil into crankcase.

7.

Add enough engine oil to the FULL mark on the dipstick tube.
