Using the SSTs, holding the rack guide from rotating, torque the nut.

Torque: 58.9 N.m (600 kgf.cm, 43 ft.lbf) for use with SST

Recheck the total preload.

Preload (turning): 1.4 N.m (14.3 kgf.cm, 12.4 in.lbf)

Reinstall the power steering gear assembly (for 4WD and PreRunner). For 2005 model year Tacoma vehicles, refer to the procedures in the
Technical Information System (TIS), 2005 model year Tacoma Repair Manual:

Power Steering: Power Steering Link Assy (For 4 WD and Pre Runner): Overhaul, steps 65 - 95 for installation.

Drive vehicle to confirm that the condition is corrected and steering performance is acceptable.
