Brake Pad: Service and Repair

Pads, Replace

1.

Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.

2.

Remove two caliper mounting bolts, then remove caliper. Do not allow caliper to hang by brake hose.

3.

Remove inner pad, then remove outer pad and anti-squeal shim, Fig. 3.

4.

Remove anti-rattle spring and pad guide plate.

5.

Remove pad support plate and anti-squeal shim.

6.

Reverse procedure to install.

Caliper, Replace

1.

Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.

2.

Disconnect brake hydraulic line from frame bracket and from caliper using suitable wrench.

3.

Remove caliper mounting bolts, then the caliper.

4.

Reverse procedure to install and bleed brake system.
