Axle Shaft: Service and Repair
Axle Shaft, Conventional Fixed/Floating
The following procedures apply to rear wheel drive and four wheel drive models, except 1988 Camry and Celica models equipped with the
All Wheel Drive system. For axle bearing replacement procedures on front wheel drive models, refer to ``Rear Hub & Wheel Bearing,
Replace.'' For 1988 Camry & Celica models equipped with the all wheel drive system, refer to ``All Wheel Drive'' for service procedures not
found in this section.

Removal

Raise and support rear of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly and brake drum or rotor,

Through holes in axle shaft flange remove axle shaft outer bearing retainer attaching bolts,
